Did you know that our candles have a memory?
When lighting a Soia soy candle for the first time it is very important to give it a “memory burn”.
You should burn the candle for at least one hour for each inch of the diameter of the candle.
For example: a 4 inch diameter candle (with 1 wick) should be burnt for at least 4 hours or until the melted wax reaches the edge of the container to establish the candle’s “memory”. This allows the candle to establish a full melt pool allowing maximum scent throw. If a soy candle is not given a “memory burn” in the initial lighting, it will burn down the center creating a “tunnel burn” and the maximum scent throw will not be achieved.
Soy candles are safe when burned properly and responsibly. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that a burning candle has an open flame and is a potential fire hazard if not monitored correctly.
When burning your soy candle, always burn until the soy candle liquifies to the edge of the container. Not letting the soy candle liquify to the edge could result in tunneling. *Rule of thumb: Burn candle for 1 hour per inch of diameter.
Always trim the wick! Trim wicks to 1/4 inch before every use. Additionally, wicks should be trimmed whenever the wick gets a mushroom-like appearance (this is completely normal for all natural wicks)
Wooden wicks must be trimmed also! Use a tissue to gently pinch off the burnt wood and discard
Extinguish the flame before trimming the wick. Do not extinguish the candle wick by replacing the container’s lid
Always read and follow the caution and warning label on the bottom of the candle.
